How to get help, and answers to common questions.

Get in touch

The fastest way to reach a person is email: support@civilianos.com.

For privacy or data-access requests, use privacy@civilianos.com. We respond within two business days.

When reporting a bug, please include your operating system (iOS version, Android version, or browser), the version of Civilian you're using (Account → bottom of the screen), and a short description of what you did and what happened.

Common questions

I can't sign in.

If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen. If that doesn't help, email us at support@civilianos.com with the email you signed up with and we'll get you back in.

How do I cancel my Civilian Pro subscription?

If you subscribed in the iOS app: open the iOS Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Civilian → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.

If you subscribed on the web: open Civilian → Account → Subscription → Manage subscription. You'll be sent to the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel.

How do I delete my account?

In the mobile app: Account → Delete account. On the web: Account → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, briefings, subscription records, push tokens, and analytics events tied to your user ID. If you subscribed through the App Store, cancel your subscription in iOS Settings before (or after) deleting your account — deleting the account doesn't cancel App Store billing on its own.

Where does my profile data go?

Civilian never sells your data, never shares it with advertisers, and doesn't run ads. The full list of services that process your data on our behalf (Anthropic, OpenAI, Stripe, RevenueCat, Google Civic, PostHog, Expo Push, Railway, Vercel) is in our Privacy Policy, with what each one receives and why.

My For You feed is empty or feels generic.

The feed personalizes based on your profile — the more fields you fill out, the more specific it gets. Try Account → Profile → Personal info, Location, Household, and Civic context. Even a few fields make a noticeable difference. If you've filled most of your profile and the feed still feels off, email us and we'll take a look at what's happening for your account.

I think a story or a politician's information is wrong.

We get most data from public records (Congress.gov, FEC, OpenSecrets, your local Secretary of State) and aggregate news from independent outlets. Mistakes happen. Email support@civilianos.com with a link to the screen and what you think is wrong, and we'll either fix it or explain the source.

I've used my two daily briefings. What do I do?

You can re-read or re-listen to your most recent briefing any time — it doesn't burn a quota. New briefings are capped at two per day to keep generation costs sustainable; the count resets at midnight UTC.

How do I request a refund?

App Store subscriptions: request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Web subscriptions: email support@civilianos.com and we'll process it through Stripe.

What does Civilian Pro actually unlock?

Personalized briefings (audio + text, twice a day), personal-impact analysis on every story, vote scorecards on every representative showing where their votes line up with your situation, donor and money-flow transparency on politician pages, and push alerts on bills that affect you. The free tier includes top news, your representatives, and your ballot.

Is Civilian non-partisan?

Yes. Civilian doesn't endorse candidates or parties. We aggregate from independent outlets across the spectrum and personalize around your own situation — your district, your housing situation, what you care about — not your political identity. Party registration is an optional profile field and is never required.
